Elevate And Innovate: A Capital Project Transformation In Downtown DC

Introduction:

Situated in the heart of Downtown Washington, DC, our mission was to bestow upon this capital improvement project a captivating graphic and experiential identity. Although the lobby exuded hints of elegance, a cohesive system was absent. Collaborating seamlessly with architects and interior designers, our goal was to craft a language that not only celebrated the current state of the space but also modernized it, infusing warmth and elegance into the renovation.

Transformation Strategy:

To fortify the building's connection to its surrounding geographical context, we meticulously developed an identity seamlessly incorporating the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood. Shaping the logo into a triangle boundary, the numeric identity adopts a modern approach with art deco strokes, reminiscent of high-end real estate projects. The primary aim was to enhance the overall experience, making it warm and imbued with sophisticated hospitality.

Drawing inspiration from the opulence and rich design details of the 1920s, we conducted a thorough study of old regal transportation hubs. This exploration covered both large-scale architectural grandeur and intricate smaller-scale details. The outcome was the development of an identity, building signage, and experiential graphics harmoniously working with modern architectural interventions.

Results:

The end result is a meticulously layered amalgamation of design elements that not only offer warmth, detail, and elegance but also significantly contribute to the value and equity of the landlord's portfolio. Tenants and visitors are treated to a visually stunning experience where the charm of the 1920s converges with the contemporary aesthetic of modern architectural interventions. This revitalized space stands as a testament to the successful fusion of heritage and innovation, providing a unique and captivating environment for all.
