Brief:

Café 56 is an open food hall connecting two buildings in the West Creek Campus. The name identifies the buildings, making it easier to locate and identify. A food hall space was designed for employees to interact, refuel and exchange ideas. Our goal was to create a diverse system of graphics to identify the diverse foods while directing them to the right food stations.

Solution:

Café 56 most importantly identifies clearly the food station offerings to staff and visitors. Beyond the practical wayfinding layer, each station has a range of unique graphic interpretations in order to create a diverse, urban market kind of experience that encourages movement and conversation. The primary focus and main activity zone is the “Service Island” which is defined by a floating bulkhead composed of backlit glass bottles, locally sourced reclaimed barn-wood, and painted with the names of surrounding Richmond neighborhoods.
